EXT./INT. SUBURBAN HOME – EVENING/NIGHT

Flying in over the hills of Oklahoma City as the sun goes down. (Including over the backs of three silhouettes walking towards where we’re going) we enter a suburb and close in on a specific house, entering through the windows as MUSIC STARTS UP.

LYRICS

Yeah

Oh baby

From a high wide angle we slowly float down through an evening party, guests DISSOLVING as we go from one end of the room to the other.

LYRICS

Yeah

As we reach the end we come to Bryan, leaning against the wall (head too) as the only soul remaining.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

Where does love go

when you’re not loved

How does it feel

when nobody wants it

He starts to lift his head off the wall.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

Tell me does it float around

like a little lost cloud?

When a heart is not its own

And slowly walks forward, (camera tracking him) the guests reappearing as he enters the mingle.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

What does love do

when it’s not being used?

Feeling like it just

don’t have a home

Bryan stops.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing to camera)

Is it laying awake

in the middle of the night

thinkin’ about what went wrong?

Camera pans 180°

And finds the one he longs for. A cutie having a great time with another man.

LYRICS

‘Cause when I look in your eyes

it’s just not there

and when I hunger for affection

the cupboard is bare

Camera falls back, bringing Bryan back into frame. (He simultaneously turns around and walks away, towards tracking camera)

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

I don’t know why I keep hanging on

when love’s got the message

then it’s already gone

Trying to hold back his emotions Bryan ducks into a nearby bathroom, locks the door behind him and leans up against it.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

Why

Am I always the last to know

tell me why is it always me alone

Outside the living room window Mark, Kevin and Sam (all dressed in white) lit as if higher beings stare through the window and SING.

LYRICS

(singing)

Still dancing when

the party’s over

Back to Bryan hanging out in the bathroom, tilting his head up before sliding on down to the floor in despair.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

Why

Am I always the last to see

just a fool who believes

you’re still in love with me

Back to Mark, Kevin and Sam outside the living room window like watchful souls.

LYRICS

Even love can see it’s over

always the last to know

Still on them we fall back in reverse through the window.

LYRICS

Oh

And pan 180° to…

LYRICS

Yeah baby

Find Bryan standing in the middle of the conversing crowd. Continuing with the camera we start to push in on him.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

What do I do

till I’m back on my feet?

Do I hang around and try to pretend

That I’m really over you

and it won’t be long

till love says it’s my turn again

The nonstop camera goes into a slow 360° rotating shot around him, revealing his past love at his back (back-to-back) as it circles around. Completely focused on her new man, she’s totally oblivious to Bryan’s sorrowful world.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

Hoo yeah

‘Cause when I look in your eyes

it’s just not there

and when I hunger for affection

the cupboard is bare

I don’t know why I keep hanging on

when love’s got the message

Coming out of the 360° and back on Bryan we…

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

And it’s already gone

DISSOLVE TO:

CrossCutting between Mark, Kevin and Sam and Bryan in the bathroom staring at himself in the mirror.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

(Chorus)

From upstairs looking down at the party (his past love in particular) Bryan SINGS from behind the banister.

LYRICS

(Bryan singing)

Oh

The next time I fall

(next time I fall)

I’ll be taking my time

till I know

her love is mine

Hoo

(repeat chorus x2)

CrossCutting between Mark, Kevin and Sam and Bryan looking down at the guests as they DISSOLVE ONE BY ONE, with he himself then DISSOLVING/JUMPCUTTING down the stairs into the center of the nearly empty living room. (Last few guests DISSOLVING)

LYRICS

Brian singing)

(chorus)

Mark, Kevin and Sam slightly turn and make way for…

A young heavenly beauty dressed in all white as she steps forward.

She heads for the window, DISSOLVING INTO IT.

For those last couple of verses Bryan stands alone in the center of the living room.

As he finishes up with the ad Libs he turns while lifting his gaze a little, which allows him to notice the heavenly beauty by the window.

Close-up, she smiles.

Close-up, a little taken aback, he has finally found something to smile about…

… And does.
