INT. LRT STATION – LATE-NIGHT

Spunky, a street chick, looks down from atop a tall stairwell leading to the LRT, gestures to her accomplice at the bottom to ready himself.

Matt, another young person from the streets, nods up to her but is visibly nervous.

A businessman walks down the sidewalk and approaches the top of the stairs.

Spunky appears behind him, looks to see that no one’s around and shoves him as he takes his first step down toward the LRT. (Simultaneous with MUSIC KICKING IN)

We fast-forward past the falling businessman, through the station, down the rail tracks and come to a stop on Nickelback performing right there in the underground tunnel.

LYRICS

(Chad singing)

Please don’t be too long

While you’re gone

there ain’t

enough to keep me here too long

Not like the last time

I stood in line

Just enough

to keep me bouncing off the wall

Yeah

DURING BRIEF INSTRUMENTAL SECTION…

Slo-Mo, businessman falling down the many stairs.

Regular speed, wide-eyed Matt looking up at the horrific sight of what’s coming down. (He stands to the side in the shadows)

Regular speed, an intent Spunky looking down at the businessman falling.

Slo-Mo, the out-of-control victim hitting step after step.

Nickelback in the tunnel. (Start Dutch/other odd angles)

LYRICS

(Chad singing)

The new day

The new train

that comes around

Pills and all

enough to kill him while he sleeps

Is this the alley

we dragged him to

just off

of Hollywood and Normandy

The band starts to warp/disfigure.

LYRICS

(Chad singing)

It didn’t work like

she said it would

Just like

livin’ in Hollywood

Just like

a bad dream

or so it seems

Just like I’m back in emergency

Then even more so distorted.

LYRICS

(Chad singing)

It didn’t work like

she said it would

Just like

livin’ in Hollywood

Just like

a bad dream

or so it seems

Just like I’m back in emergency

DURING INSTRUMENTAL…

The businessman lands of the bottom of the stairs.

Hesitant, Matt looks up at Spunky, she urges him to hurry. Looks to make sure no one is coming.

He reaches into the businessman’s coat pocket for a wallet but just as he finds it businessman’s eyes flutter open and he utters for help.

Matt starts to freak out.

He drops the wallet and starts to back away.

Frustrated, Spunky YELLS down to Matt but notices someone coming towards the stairs so she sinks away into the night as a commuter approaches.

Meanwhile, Matt is at his wits end, losing it as he paces and shakes around a few commuters who think of him as nothing more than just another nutcase.

LRT LIGHTS head down the tracks.

Matt keeps freaking and pacing.

Lights closing in.

He accidentally hits shoulders with one of the females nearby.

The guy she’s with pushes Matt back.

Matt starts to lose it even more, and as he turns he doesn’t realize how close to the edge of the platform he is…

And falls off just as the LRT SPEEDS IN to the station.

MATCH CUT:

INT. HOSPITAL – DAY

As bright lights dim down we’re on an extreme close-up falling back to close-up of Matt in hospital bed as a vegetable.

But his eyes seem to tell that he’s still aware.

And we head into them.

INT. MATT’S MIND

Heading through the interior of Matt’s mind we find him running down the halls of such, Spunky always at the end urging him to hurry. (Dutch and other warped angles)

LYRICS

Please don’t be too long

while you’re gone

There ain’t

enough to keep me here too long

Not like the last time

I stood in line

Just enough

to keep me bouncing off the wall

The businessman, warped and disfigured, POPS UP here and there as Matt constantly tries to escape his own personal hell.

LYRICS

It didn’t work like

she said it would

Just like

livin’ in Hollywood

Just like a bad dream

or so it seems

Just like I’m back in emergency

CrossCut between Matt and his purgatory state, warped Spunky urging him, warped businessman uttering for help, and warped Nickelback performing.

LYRICS

It didn’t work like

she said it would

Just like

livin’ in Hollywood

Just like

a bad dream

or so it seems

LAST VERSE – Pull back out of Matt’s tormented mind through his eyes and slowly fall back on the poor soul who’s unable to do anything but lay there and live his neverending horror.

LYRICS

Just like I’m back in emergency
