FADE IN:

INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT

Close-Up of a girl, early 20’s, in bed with a pair of eye pillows on. From foot of bed (out of frame) LYRICS enter and run straight up into her nose.

LYRICS

This has been said

Her nose twitches as the LYRICS continue to flow in.

LYRICS

so many times

that I’m not sure

She sits up and removes her eye pillows to see what’s bugging her.

LYRICS

if it matters

Cross-eyed and puzzled she watches as the LYRICS cross the bridge of her nose and disappears.

LYRICS

But we never stood a chance

The girl looks ahead to the foot of the bed. (LYRICS still coming)

LYRICS

and I’m not sure if it matters

At the foot of the bed Fall Out Boy performs, the foreground (bed) and background (room) going into a warped stretch like a long corridor, the band staying in place. Simultaneously, two giant waves gathering power (one on each side of them) the LYRICS flowing up within. Just as they CRASH DOWN upon the band they dissipate into nothing, a full moon now rising at the band’s back, getting larger and larger as it does so.

LYRICS

(singing)

If you are the shores

I am the waves

(with the rising of the moon

the LYRICS circle around it)

begging for big moons

(those circling LYRICS turning into

Big O’s and coming at us)

Oooons…

Our tripped-out girl quickly looks to her left…

Where Patrick in Kangol hat is addressing a HUGE LETTER, looking at her and singing as he does so, what he writes actually being the LYRICS as he sings them.

LYRICS

(singing)

I’m mailing letters

to addresses in a ghost town

(and now, where the zip would be)

N-O-O-O-O

The girl shoots a look to her right…

Andy, Joe and Pete hold the end of the bed sheets she’s lying on top of, printed on the corner of each a stitched word.

LYRICS

(singing)

Your

Secret’s

Out

Repeating the next shot three times (one for each pound of the drums) the three guys YANK the bedsheet from underneath the girl. (Like someone quickly yanking a tablecloth from the table while still managing to keep everything in place)

MATCH CUT:

EXT. CRAZY TOWN – DAY

Plopping down like an inch from the pavement the girl lands flat on her ass in the middle of a street.

A skateboarder comes whizzing by (Close-Up of the skateboard) the LYRICS coming up from the backend of the wheels/ground. (Like rising dirt from a peel out)

LYRICS

I know this hurts

Same shot, opposite side of frame, a bicycle speeds past, LYRICS again being kicked up from the pavement by passing wheels.

LYRICS

It was meant to

Immediately chasing behind is a dog with a bone in his mouth. (LYRICS on bone)

LYRICS

It was meant to

The girl stands to her feet and is now among countless passersby, including a guy who turns around a little as he’s walking away, secretly showing her his palm which he holds close to his chest. Written on it, the LYRICS…

LYRICS

 Your secret’s out

As he walks away another guy approaches and starts to pass her, exposing his glass eye as he does so. LYRICS on the glass eye…

LYRICS

and the best part is

An attractive woman takes off her coat as she comes by, the low cut T-shirt which holds back her nice chest has the next set of LYRICS on it.

LYRICS

it isn’t

even a good one

People still coming and going on both sides, a little girl now walks straight towards her while doing sign language. (The LYRICS pouring forth as if they were being created by hand)

LYRICS

And it’s mind over you

The little girl THRUSTS the last three words at her, one at a time, as if she were a character in Mortal Kombat. The LARGE capital words disappear upon impact, sending our clueless girl JOLTING BACK with each.

LYRICS

DON’T

DON’T

MATTER

Corresponding with the DRUM ACTION she turns around and runs, low angle, cranked speed, crazy town in background.

She stops and turns back around (again to camera, low angle) her eyes scanning the scene from one side to the other and back again. She’s frame center, an electric banner (like on Wall Street) behind her on each side. Slanted to a 45° angle, the LYRICS are displayed tracking by.

LYRICS

This has been said

so many times that I’m not sure if it

matters

We push in head on on a line of parading guys and gals, each jumping out of frame (left, right, left, etc.) as soon as the LYRICS printed on the cardboard they hold is sung.

LYRICS

But

It

Must

Be

Said

Again

That

All

Us

Boys

Are

Just

Screaming

We’re now upon the float the paraders were fronting. It’s F. O. B performing on it, the LYRICS floating all around them in waves.

LYRICS

(singing)

Into microphones for attention

because we’re so bored

(the O shape on Patrick’s mouth

coming right towards camera)

O-o-o-o

We never knew

that you would pick it apart

Oh

I’m falling apart

to songs about hips and hearts

In right frame, Extreme Close-Up of our confused cutie, a guy dressed in old telegraph wear leans into left frame and whispers into her ear, the LYRICS falling out of her other ear.

LYRICS

Your secret’s out

She turns to him but he’s no longer there, her gaze continuing in that direction as she notices a telegram store. Seated in the window the guy uses an old Morse code device to tap LYRICS into the air.

LYRICS

I know this hurts

it was meant to

As the last of his tapped LYRICS fly off a female rollerblader gusts by and over to the girl.

LYRICS

it was meant to

She places a hand on the girl’s shoulder and brings up her cell phone with the other. **Possible sponsor**

Extreme Close-Up as the rollerblader texts in the LYRICS.

LYRICS

Your secret’s out

and the best part is

it isn’t even a good one

As she brings down the phone she points up to the sky, two passing planes coming from each direction, LYRICS trailing behind as banners…

LYRICS

And it’s mind over you

don’t don’t matter

The rollerblader removes a pair of shades resting atop her head and places them on the girl. (Girl’s POV as the shades are put on)

In this virtual reality the band performs in a tunnel-like setting. (Like inside an empty trailer of an eighteen wheeler). They’re at the other end, with a long distance between them and the camera. The lighting looks like that of a nightclub, quickly pulsating on and off to the MUSIC. Simultaneously the LYRICS travel down the sides of the tunnel and towards camera.

LYRICS

(left side)

I used to obsess over living

(right side)

Now I only obsess over you

(left side)

Tell me you’d like boys like me better

The tunnel goes PITCH BLACK, glowing LYRICS coming down center frame.

LYRICS

In the dark lying on top of you

Back to the strobe lighting.

LYRICS

(right side)

This

(left side)

Has

(right side)

Been

(left side)

Said

so many times that

(right side)

I’m not sure if it

(both sides)

MATTERS

(right side)

This

(left side)

Has

(right side)

Been

(left side)

Said

so many times that

(right side)

I’m not sure if it

(both sides)

MATTERS

The shades are taken off and camera zooms back in on the float stage, F. O. B performing., the LYRICS swirling up and around Patrick as he sings.

LYRICS

This has been said

so many times that

I’m not sure if it matters

Well this has been said

so many times that

I’m not sure if it

We do a funky Crane-Up on Patrick as he looks straight up. Keeping a Close-Up of his face yet looking down on the distance being created from the Crane-Up with everything else. (The rest of his body, the band, float, crazy town) LYRICS swirling around his head.

LYRICS

M…a…T…t…E…r…S

Extreme Close-Ups of criss-cross layers of Band-Aids being ripped off someone, each one with a LYRICAL word on it.

LYRICS

I

Know

This

Hurts

A doctor with a LYRICAL surgical mask on looks up to camera.

LYRICS

It was meant to

His nurse immediately walks over to the office window (camera tracking as if she’s walking our prying eyes out) the record playing on the turntable in the background producing the next set of LYRICS.

LYRICS

It was meant to

Camera now on the other side of the class window, the nurse brings down the blinds, LYRICS brought down with them.

LYRICS

Your secrets out

and the best part is

The girl, standing right beside the doctor’s window, turns around when a hand is placed on her shoulder.

It’s an old Chinese man, his eyes peering over the open paper fan he holds as it covers the rest of his face.

LYRICS

(on fan)

it isn’t even a good one

He produces a scroll, shooting it out Mortal Kombat style which unravels it all the way to the other side of the street. (Camera tracking along to read the LYRICS printed on it, font having a Chinese look to it)

LYRICS

And it’s mind over you

Now on the other side of the street we tilt up on a coffee shop, the name also the LYRICS.

LYRICS

Don’t Don’t Don’t

Don’t matter

POV shot of the girl entering.

Atop a small stage Pete recites poetry, a large banner of white paper wrapped around his body. The camera does continuous 360’s around him, the LYRICS on the banner MAGNIFIED as they are said. Each time the rotation comes around to his back we see the girl standing in the background watching him. As we get wide enough we realize that the large banner is actually a fortune attached to a huge fortune cookie on stage there beside Pete.

LYRICS

(reciting)

From day one I talked about getting out

but not forgetting about

how my worst fears are letting out

He said why put a new address

on the same old loneliness

when breathing just passes the time

until we all just get old and die

Now talking’s just a waste of breath

and living’s just a waste of death

and why put a new address on the same old loneliness

And this is you and me

and me and you until we’ve got nothing left

We do a quick zoom in on the girl’s face…

MATCH CUT:

INT. BEDROOM – MORNING

Finishing the quick zoom in on an Extreme Close-Up of the girl’s face as she sits up while ripping off those eye pillows.
