FADE IN:

Craning down through the entrance of a zoo we float the camera inside and over/between some visitors.

All heading in one direction, they seem to be drawn to the tiger cage.

Camera approaches the backs of two black guys and floats in between them… (Up ahead, the back of a lone figure looking at the tiger)

LYRICS

A yo-yo B

Yo Yo– it’s Michael Jackson

That ain’t no Michael Jackson

That ain’t no –

… And over a little girl, balloon in one hand and dragging her mother forward with the other.

LYRICS

Mommy, mommy

it’s Michael Jackson

Out of nowhere a flood of people start gathering around behind the lone figure.

We push in on him as he turns around to them (and camera) while zooming out (Hitchcock shot)., the caged bars behind him super-imposing and entrapping him.

It’s Michael.

MATCH CUT:

LYRICS

Over here, Mr. Jackson.

Michael, Michael

Over here

One picture please

Michael, can I get one snapshot, please?

A wide shot of the cage, many still gathered around in foreground pouring in as we push in past the tiger and towards a shadowed area.

The more we push in forward the more we can make out that it’s a figure huddled down low.

Suddenly what appears to be an overhead light to a camera BURSTS ON, Michael’s head simultaneously whipping up to face camera. (Camera POV)

LYRICS

Ain’t the pictures enough

Still fixated on the camera as it starts to back away Michael stands to his feet like a panther.

LYRICS

(Michael singing)

Why do you go through so much

Chasing down the camera he shoots forward like a wild animal, slows down a little, shoots forward again, slows, and shoots forward for a third time before stopping in stillness.

LYRICS

(Michael singing)

To get the story you need

so you can bury me

Michael shoots forward one more time with deadly speed, turning the camera around to face all those who face him.

LYRICS

You’ve got the people confused

You tell the stories you choose

Paparazzi ooze around the watchful crowd, their flashbulbs going off everywhere.

LYRICS

You try to get me to lose

the man I really am

Camera quickly shoots forward to the lens of a paparazzo, ricochets off, and shoots over to a monitor playing a video, a description of Michael below it. (For zoo visitors to read)

LYRICS

You keep on stalking me

On the monitor, Michael on a stage SINGING the lyrics live  to camera.

LYRICS

(Michael singing)

Invading my privacy

Turning his head to the left as if looking over at something, camera follows Michael’s gaze with a quick pen back to the cage he finds himself in. (Just standing there behind the bars, head tilted down)

LYRICS

Won’t you just let me be

Trapped there in such a sad state of being Michael’s head hangs low as he SINGS in public isolation while ignoring the chaos which stares him down outside.

LYRICS

(Michael singing)

‘Cause your cameras can’t control

the minds of those who know

that you’ll even sell your soul

just to get your story sold

Camera slowly falls back to a medium wide shot of Michael, his shadow on the background wall dancing to the MUSIC. (His physical self remaining unmoved in foreground)

LYRICS

I need my privacy

Oh no

Yeah Yeah

I need my privacy

Yeah Yeah

Camera pans back to the monitor, where Michael is performing his song in real-time.

LYRICS

(Michael singing)

So paparazzi

Yeah Yeah

Get away from me

Oh no

Yeah Yeah

He smacks his head towards the camera, sending it quickly panning back to him in his cage…

LYRICS

(Michael singing)

Just get away from me

… Where he’s pacing back and forth behind the bars like many captive souls do…

LYRICS

Some of you still wonder why

one of my friends had to die

to get the message across

that yet you haven’t heard

My friend was chased and confused

like many others I knew

but on that cold winter night

my pride was snatched away

One of the shutterbugs gets too close, sliding his hands in between the bars and Michael lunging at him, barely missing.

LYRICS

She get no second chance

She just ridiculed and harassed

Hands around the bars, head hanging low.

LYRICS

Please tell me why

Oh no

Pushing past him we focus on the wall, his shadow performing.

LYRICS

Now there’s a lesson to learn

Respect’s not given

it’s earned

MATCH CUT:

Onto Michael’s shadow on stage.

LYRICS

Stop maliciously attacking my integrity

Tilting up on him performing.

LYRICS

(Michael singing)

I need my privacy

Oh no

Yeah Yeah

I need my privacy

Oh no

Yeah Yeah

So paparazzi

Get away from me

Yeah Yeah

Just get away from me

DURING INSTRUMENTAL SECTION a paparazzo picks the lock to Michael’s cage, sneaks in and tries to look in the shadows for him so he can score the exclusive shot.

Michael steps up from behind him, creating a shadow that stops the intruder in his tracks. As the photog slowly turns around Mike pounces, intently focused on the camera as he destroys it into one million pieces, the paparazzo being thrown to the ground in the process.

Michael’s head darts up to the open caged door, shoots a stare back to all the watchful eyes and jumps out to escape to freedom…

CUT TO:

Paparazzi and zoo officials speeding down the street in hot pursuit, a helicopter even joining the chase from above.

We zoom up a tree on a close-up of Michael taking refuge on a thick branch.

LYRICS

(Michael singing)

Now there’s a lesson to learn

Stories are twisted and turned

Turning his head, we…

MATCH CUT:

To him performing on stage. After a few verses we start crosscutting between the performance and paparazzi closing in around the tree.

LYRICS

(Michael singing to camera)

Stop maliciously attacking my integrity

I need my privacy

Oh no

Yeah Yeah

I need my privacy

Oh no

Yeah Yeah

So paparazzi

Oh no

Yeah Yeah

Get away from me

Yeah Yeah

I need my privacy

Don’t do it

Yeah Yeah

I need my privacy

Yeah Yeah

So Paparazzi

Yeah

Get away from me

Yeah Yeah

Oouu…

Privacy

We do simultaneous fallbacks of both locations, dissolving from one to the other – falling back on the monitor and Michael’s abandoned cage/falling back on the surrounded tree he hides in.

LYRICS

Why’d you do it

Please don’t do it

Please don’t do it

Why’d you do it
