FADE IN:

WITHIN THE MUSIC THERE ARE SMACKS COUNTERING BEATS

(BEAT, SMACK, BEAT, SMACK…)

In Alignment with the first (((3))) SMACKS we’re on an Extreme Close-Up of a hand flipping on and off a light switch (((3))) times.

In alignment with the next (((3))) SMACKS ECU of foot tapping (((3))) times.

In alignment with next (((3))) SMACKS ECU Darren covering his eyes with a pair of black shades as he repeats the motion (((3))) times.

In alignment with the next (((3))) SMACKS CU of Darren’s hand opening and closing an empty suitcase (((3))) times

NOTE: From FADE IN exposure is a little brighter than usual, and Throughout Video slowly but consistently darkens. Also, Darren’s movements are very odd, as in Slightly Fast Forward/Fidgety yet singing regularly.

A Wide Shot of a plain bedroom. Nothing but a bed, a dresser, a rug and a wall mirror. In alignment with the next (((3))) SMACKS We JumpCut Over To A Medium Shot of Darren wearing his shades and a flannel as he packs. He looks a little different from what we’re used to seeing. On the side of his head his hair is buzzed cut to the scalp.

As he looks up To Camera and sings his first line Camera Obeys And Backs Off Some.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

Leave me alone

Then once again Comes Forward back into a MS.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

Come over here

Camera Falls Back A Little And Comes Around To The Front Of Darren And His Suitcase as he continues to pack.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

I know it sounds funny
But I just can’t stand another day on my own

He swipes at his ear (((3))) times.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

Another bug in my ear

sounds like noise to me

Darren is now sitting on the edge of his bed, his suitcase closed and to his side while he looks down to the floor in front of him and reaches up to hold the back of his neck with his right hand.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

Living alone

A chill in the air

He brings his right hand down and replaces it with his left.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

I don’t hear from my brother
He is living in another continent far away

Bringing his left hand down he again uses his right hand to hold the back of his neck.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

And it was his birthday today

but I think I missed it

Suitcase in hand Darren heads for the wall mirror but goes nowhere. His movement slows down to a warped and contorted Slo-Mo of walking in place As We Do A 360 Around Him. (Reminiscent of Gallo shooting himself in the head in the film Buffalo 66)

LYRICS

Setting sun
I think I’m heading for a setting sun
Oh, I really need to find a way back home
Oh, it’s so urgent, there’s an urgency

Coming Out Of The Warped Slo-Mo And Returning To His Fast Forward/Fidgety Movements he notices the wrinkled bedding of where he sat in the otherwise perfectly-made bed…

And now in true Fast Forward yanks up the bedding and makes the whole thing all over again.

LYRICS

Leave me alone, get out of here
Still chasing my daddy, singing songs about my mammy
Got to let it go before I go down with the ship
There’s my heartache sinking

Looking down he sees another imperfection and presses his lips together in frustration.

LYRICS

Leave it alone

put it to bed

In Fast Forward he yanks up the bedding to do it all over again.

LYRICS

Everybody changing memory
Set in the pages of an e-mail or two
Yeah, I read all thirty two, it was love prized out of you

Once again Darren walks in place with suitcase in hand As We Do 360s Around His Grotesque Slo-Mo Body Movement Going This Way And That.

LYRICS

Setting sun
I think I’m heading for a setting sun
Ooh, I really need to find a way back home
Oh, it’s so urgent, there’s an urgency

Behind the setting sun
I think I’m heading for a setting sun
Ooh, I really need to find a way back home
Oh, it’s so urgent, there’s an urgency

Back to his Fast Forward/Fidgety self Darren finally makes his way over to the wall mirror to have a look. In the reflection he sees a mic stand sticking out from under the bed. JumpCut…

On his knees he pulls out the stand.

JumpCut…

Back in front of the mirror with the mic/mic stand Darren starts to perform for himself.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

Do I make you hot?
Do I make you uncomfortable?
A stirring down in your soul
For something more

Does it happen a lot?
Does the drudgery bring you down?
Is anyone still around?

His head coming down, he notices the fringe on the rug beneath his shoes are overlapping one another.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

I’m coming down

In Fast Forward Darren is on his knees making his way along the fringe of the rug as he straightens every strand.

From the corner of his eye the mic stand catches his attention. It’s closer to the wall than it is to the bed.

LYRICS

Ohhh…

Mmmm…

He junps up and places the mic stand directly in between the wall and bed, using a tape measure from his pocket to make sure it’s precisely in the center.

LYRICS

Oh do I make you hot?
Do I make you uncomfortable?
A stirring down in your soul
For something more

With his back now to the mirror Darren once again performs with the mic. (To Camera, suitcase at his feet)

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

Does it happen a lot?
Does the drudgery bring you down?
Is anyone still around?

Staying on Darren, BLACK starts to fill the room on all sides, the only part that stays lit being within a circle that is closing in around him.

LYRICS

(Darren Singing)

Oh, setting sun
I think I’m heading for a setting sun
Ooh, I really need to find a way back home
Oh, it’s so urgent, there’s an urgency

His constant fidgeting has stopped and for the first time he is completely still. He just stands there staring To Camera as the circle of what light remains gets tighter and smaller as it zeros in around his head…

Face…

Shades…
